Vintage at the Village Hall - Blandford Forum, Monday 14th

Hhhh Hmmm mind if I creep back in?
Sorry all has been quiet around here for several weeks. If you're a Facebooker you'll know quiet meant busy. I've been squirrelling away some makes and treasures ready for this lovely event on Monday.
Vintage at the Village Hall promises to be a fantastic event - I've seen the stall holder list! Also free drop in crochet workshops 10-2pm and Pearl Lowe will be signing her book from midday. So what reason is there not to come along? Ok well perhaps you live too far away or have to go to work...
So in no particular order some recent makes that will be coming along with me.
 Lavender hearts
 Birdy brooches
Booty bags (for taking treasure home in)
 Lovely old canisters
A little bit of utility china
 Autumn bags
 in bold floral barkcloth
 Cute cushions

and of course a suitcase or two (or maybe three or four)
I loved last years Puppies & Kittens so much one I had to do another
If you do come along be sure to say hello. I'll be the tired looking one in the corner!

Forgetful in Frome

I'll apologise in advance for where this post is heading...
Saturday was something of a miracle for me - an early start. I am an owl not a lark but after Saturday I'm having second thoughts. I set my alarm for 6am, gulp. If I'd had to put money on me getting up I don't think I'd have bothered. However I surprised myself and at 6.30 found myself heading out of the house...
Delighted to see people still have milk delivered and in a great little thingy to protect them. You see I've never been up early enough to see these things before.
I headed through a very quiet Brewery Square,
 eyed up a doll's cot in a skip - yes a skip - don't you?
until I got to the little unmanned station where I live.
 I was heading 'north'
and at the crazy time of 8am got off (yes off, I'd been going an hour and ten minutes) the train in Frome. Now have you guessed where I was going yet?
a beautiful morning which was just as well
as I ambled along not really sure where I was going
along a pretty path and past the most gorgeous houses
I particularly liked the one below.
Next stop the cash point (very important as you'll see)
 and a coffee search
past Costa to The Garden Café. Down a little alleyway to the most delicious take out coffee.
Still so early I had time for a little window shopping
 Lovely tea towels.
And that dear reader is where it all went wrong! You may have guessed I was heading to the Vintage Bazaar's Giant Rag Market. Yes I made it. In fact I got to queue to get in - another first.
BUT the fabric, the rush, the clothes, the curtains, the GLTs (gorgeous little things, sweetie). Crikey I clean forgot I'd taken you with me tucked inside my camera and you stayed in my bag until I got home. You should have said. If you'd given me a nudge I'd have taken you out and let you see all the lovely stalls, meet the bloggy stallholders...
You'll have to pop over here and have a look.
Now impressively I was back on the 10.47 train. Things to make, fabric to wash and all that.
The beauty of the train ride was being able to finish this pair by hand.
Back in time to wash and dry my purchases
and rescue that cot from the skip - of course!

A colourful fair tomorrow

Let's hope the sun has got his hat on because hip, hip, hooray I've got a fair tomorrow.
I've not done one this year as all my 'spare' time has gone into replenishing Custard Hall but when a lovely lady rang and asked if I'd attend 'a bit of a Do' at Litton Cheney I thought it was about time.
I shall be packing up all sorts of vintage bits and bobs and have been busy making too.
I'm focusing on small things mainly under a £5 such as patchy hangers from vintage sheets
 Fridge magnet packs.
 Soaps wrapped in vintage wallpaper
 Good old fashioned sweetie jars
And there will be T-shirts galore! These are appliqued with vintage sheets and finished with a crochet flower and colourful button.
Meanwhile at Custard Hall stock is selling quickly and I've decided I need to focus on the small stuff as my furniture and bigger items tend to go better at the antique centre. So, I've moved downstairs and have a 'new' old dresser to display my wares.
What do you think?
I'm just a bit addicted to utility china and it seems the good people of Dorchester are liking it too!
Do take a look if you're local or pop along to Litton Cheney's 'A Bit of a Do' tomorrow afternoon.

Funny old week

It's been a funny old week...
Said a formal goodbye to my grandad. In reality we lost him six years ago when he no longer knew who we were.
Loving him on the beach with his pipe and daughters!
and with a great grand daughter.
 xXx
Textile delights in North Cadbury yesterday...
Lots of stalls to browse and bloggers to catch up with.
Beginning to wish I'd taken home those little green lampshades with me.
Lots of lovely things on the same stall. I often buy from this lovely lady.
The plus side of a funeral meant a catch up family. My sister came from Amsterdam so the little jammers have made the most of some quality auntie time. A river walk whilst the sun tried to shine and some nosing into other peoples gardens.

ending up at a pub with some familiar girls!
Not much making time. A couple of customer orders including this blankety bunny pictured on some of my new fabric.
It's got me in the mood for some Spring making so out came the baby animal fabrics. hopefully some cute ta-dah pictures to share with you later in the week.
