Just a little bit nostalgic

Hands up who had one of these Fisher Price televisions?
My friend did and I loved it. She also had the Fisher Price record player. How I loved that too.
This month my little shop unit has taken on a toy theme. Not intentionally just a lot seem to have come my way recently.
I love all the old boxes.
I'd never seen a Skedoodle before. It works on the same principle as Etch-a Sketch (which I did have and adored) but there is a joystick to doodle on the dome with.
A pair of telephones in their original box.
My sporty corner was short lived as someone came and bought the lot in one go. I was pleased to have got the tennis bag as I bought an almost identical one last Autumn for my eldest Jammer's birthday. She doesn't carry such a vintage racquet in hers though!
 More childhood bits and bobs.
A whole host of books.
This lot date from 1920 onwards
I had a quick flick and became engrossed.
Back soon with some makes to share but a busy family weekend here.

  1. I didn't have the television but did hanker after the telephones. I had a fascination with telephones and played with an old bakelite dial one that BT left when replacing with a new one but soooo wanted the one in your piccy with an extension with enough cord to go in another room.

  2. I had the phones but in red, my sister could phone me from the bedroom when I was in the lounge! We lived in a flat at the time! Didn't have the TV but had the FisherPrice radio instead. I love old toys and collect far too many x

  5. I had a hockey/ tennis bag like that when I was at school, I hated carting it in the bus and trying not to bang people's legs with it! My mum had a Pip and Squeak Annual like that, first time I have seen another one, and when I recently cleared my loft out I found an old badminton racket and tennis racket with presses like that! What a walk down memory lane :-) Rowen @Coastal Colours x

  7. I have just swung my chair round and looked on
top of my daughters wardrobe, she's all grown up
now, aged 37. Well, l can see...Major Morgan, Girls
World, Operation, Petite Typewriter, Mouse Trap,
Frustration, Spirograph...Any many more. And, all
still in their original boxes...As for me....Well,
l've still got a lot of my toys, the best being a
Hornby Train Set...I had for my 5th birthday.
10yrs ago l had it valued at Gilberts in Sherborne,
£500. Could'nt believe it. I was also told if l ever
wanted to sell it...To separate it up...Trains, rails,
crossing...etc. I would probably get twice as much.
I'll never part with it....It's my past, my history..!
Never make money when it comes memories!

  8. We had so many Fisher Prices things as children - bear in mind there were 4 of us quite close together - the TV and record player still are at my parents house. I had the school house (which I still have) and an sister had the family house and school bus. Such great toys and obviously so well made as they have survived over 35 years!

  9. There was also an abundance of Fisher Price in my family but mainly for my sister. The originals seemed sturdier to me.
