Take one roller skate.. (What happened when Emily Button wanted a scooter)

Remember these...
Well when I bought them they came with a couple of these...

Duffers, destined for the bin, but wait a minute somebody has been saying for ages that Emily Button wants a scooter. In her book she has one made with cotton reels. Little Jam is always asking me to save them but I throw them away forget (because I've no idea about axels and all that stuff).
Hmmm. Could this be what I needed for wheels? In about two minutes I'd got carried away and in my head designed the most fantastic scooter for Emily and her friends. Trouble is sewing and pasting are my things. This looked like a dad kind of job. So I presented Mr Jam with a roller skate, a piece of old wood that came in a chest of drawers and knew hoped he'd go that extra mile for his littlest daughter.
Little Jam and Emily were duly thrilled with the creation.
You might think it looks a little on the brown side and you'd be right. I had more plans in my head for a respray but no Little Jam likes it as it is which I guess is a bit of a relief.
Emily's friends queued up for a ride including next door's cheeky cat!

Now Miss Vanilla is looking on, her button eyes ever so slightly green...
there is one lonely roller skate left...

Emily Button in Haberdashery Heaven and a new coat

Emily Button has a fine new coat and wanted to show you. Can you guess what she's stood in front of?
Peter Wilson's golden postbox in Sherborne Dorset.
Emily had been looking for an opportunity to show off her newest item of clothing so took the opportunity to accompany the granny on a hosital visiting session.
Do you like her wool coat? - green of course! It's been much admired by her friends Vanilla and Dolly. They're a little green eyed at the moment.
Emily's a pretty smart doll and knew a trip to Sherborne meant a trip to Butterfly Bright; home of her favourite thing - buttons!
Emily in button heaven.
Emily spotted the ricrac and wondered if she'd walked into the hairdressers by mistake.
Extensions Emily? Change of colour?
Emily picked up a few buttons and trims to take home in the hope that if she leaves them out, like the Shoemaker did in the story, the Elves will transform them into more coats for her friends during the night. She knows that's when most sewing takes place round here.
Now all that shopping meant one thing - cake!
Another trip to The lovely Bakery Cafe but the wooden cake just didn't cut it.
Bring on the Rocky Road!

PS Today the grandad came home. I think we'll miss the trips to BB and the cafe but not the hospital!

Introducing Vanilla

Have you heard? There's a new girl in town.
She arrived beautifully packaged and hand delivered.
Unwrapped in a frenzy of excitement (both me and little jammer - um who's it for?)
Let me introduce you to Vanilla
who is causing quite a stir in the Jelly Jam household.
She is the beautiful creation of the lovely Vanilla Squirrel and I ordered her in my favourite fabric.
Fabric I've had for ages, an old pinny in fact. It's been used for all sorts of purpose, cat bed only one of them, whilst I decided what to do with it.
Anyway, I parceled it up and sent it to the Squirrel who transformed it into this gorgeous creature with super little details I love. All my favourite colours of course. I'm an incredibly fussy customer and after I'd requested hair colour and sent my own fabric I should imagine the Squirrel was thinking "Cripes what have I agreed to"!
Thank you Squirrel! Now Emily Button has a new best friend - just as I'd hoped.
Don't you love a happy ending?
We've had a fair amount of our own stitching going on this weekend. No ta dah photos just yet
but I did break into this lovely early Cath Kidston fabric and wallpaper I've been saving literally for years
Pop back in a day or two and I'll show you what I did with it!
Have a lovely (white?) week!

Once Upon a Time...

... there was a girl who pondered about making suitcases and moving into a new shop. Little did she know the suitcases would fly and life would be a manic race to replenish and restock. Serves her right for taking on a shop unit three weeks before Christmas really!
So the girl made the cutest, most loveliest Puppies and Kittens case and what should happen but a lovely lady reserve it after an hour in Custard Hall. She was a tad sad to see it go having loved it for all of one night but set about cutting and pasting the next case...
More tins...
More toys...
 More furniture...
More bags in her favourite colours...
Does she want to let any of it go? Not really!
Don't forget I'm having a giveaway so pop your name in the hat if you fancy winning these goodies.
Have been loving my advent swap presents from PJ this week and smiling at some coincidences. Will share those in a day or two. I've also been sent some products to review...

Emily Button's Sunday

If you pop by here often you will know Emily Button is a firm favourite and often joins  us on outings. Imagine my delight when I got an email yesterday from the people at Emily Button. They love her adventures and want to send my little jammers some goodies by way of thanks!
So here's a little insight into Emily's kind of Sunday.
Emily likes to walk by the river and peep over hedges, She dreams of a shepherd's hut like this and would love to live in the pretty thatched cottage with the dovecote.
She's often to be found peering over bridges and has to be reminded to hold on tight. We had enough trouble getting her before Christmas, I'd hate to lose her.
Emily spied this green and shady spot perfect for an afternoon read by the river.
Swing or seat? What a choice.
Following on
Admiring the cows.
Trip trapping over the little bridges.
Following in her jammers footsteps.
Stopping for a rest much to the amusement of passers by (some of whom were helpful enough to offer sticks to prop her up!).
Deciding a dip in the old swimming pool might play havoc with her pink ricrac hair.
Finishing a walk with a trip to the park. My childhood park - complete with steam roller.
I can remember climbing on the roof but Emily was less adventurous.
Emily finished the day with a new experience - a bonfire!
Little Jam gave all her toys a log to sit on and watch!

One last decision of the day.
'Pink or white Emily?'
'Pink to match my hair, of course!'
