Christmas toys to love

It seems everyone has a soft spot for an old toy. I've been saving a few up ready for Christmas at Custard Hall and enjoying their company in the meantime.
I've snapped them all and try and post new stock on my Facebook page or Instagram to give further afield vintage lovers a chance if anything takes their fancy.
The Little Red Dolly turned into a swap with The Vanilla Squirrel and you can see her at home here! I can't show you what I swapped her for yet as it's a birthday present for a certain little jammer in few weeks.
This gorgeous pink monkey was a tough one to say goodbye to, but he's off on a journey as I type, to another bloggy home with Bobo Bun! I know he'll be well looked after there.
I need a big space for this lovely Merrythought elephant pyjama case!
Can never resist these peg dolls

This little bun was snapped up straight away by one of the staff at Custard Hall and is on his way to America about now.

And to finish I got into a bit of a monkey sharing thing on Instagram with Bobo Bun and The Vanilla Squirrel. I have to say Ms Squirrel wins hands down for the most amazing collection of old monkeys. She even has a monkey cupboard for them to live in. But here are my two...
Love them!

Toytown colour

Hello!
Just about recovered from Vintage and the Village Hall. Thank you for all your kind comments about my stall. It was a fantastic day and I got to meet lots of old customers as well as catching up with some lovely bloggers!
Thank you all for hanging on in there too. I've felt a bit out of the bloggy loop having been a rather infrequent face of late.
So just a brief Toytown post so you know I'm still here and planning on hanging around...
Had to share these lovely old toys with you.
I've just popped them in my shop

but had great fun trying them out beforehand!
 whoooooosh

Did you have any of these?
Back soon

I'm back, I missed you!

It's been a long while since I popped into blogland. After a disastrous week with a very poorly arm, a trip to A & E and a disappointing fair we packed our bags and headed off to Spain for half term.
Littlest Jammer was keen Emily Button come too so I obliged and whipped her up a swimsuit from an old pair of pants!
I didn't realise quite what I'd started. It was announced she'd need a hat too. So I trawled the wonderful world of Ebay and begged the seller to post it quick. A bit on the small side but it arrived the day before we left just in time for a quick trim up.
Emily and Chester had loads of fun on their first trip abroad and I must say were incredibly well looked after by their little owner who even packed a wooden ice lolly.
 What did I pack?...
Hmmm. No sewing machine this holiday...
I trawled Molly Makes and decided to make some of the little felt toys that could be hand sewn.
So I went with a pile of felt and as if by magic home came a deer,
a fox and a racoon.
Littlest Jammer bagged this pair for her friend's birthday and took them off to school this morning. Hope she liked them!
Now I'm off to see what you've all been up to over half term.

Just a little bit nostalgic

Hands up who had one of these Fisher Price televisions?
My friend did and I loved it. She also had the Fisher Price record player. How I loved that too.
This month my little shop unit has taken on a toy theme. Not intentionally just a lot seem to have come my way recently.
I love all the old boxes.
I'd never seen a Skedoodle before. It works on the same principle as Etch-a Sketch (which I did have and adored) but there is a joystick to doodle on the dome with.
A pair of telephones in their original box.
My sporty corner was short lived as someone came and bought the lot in one go. I was pleased to have got the tennis bag as I bought an almost identical one last Autumn for my eldest Jammer's birthday. She doesn't carry such a vintage racquet in hers though!
 More childhood bits and bobs.
A whole host of books.
This lot date from 1920 onwards
I had a quick flick and became engrossed.
Back soon with some makes to share but a busy family weekend here.

Eastery stock

It was a slow walk to Custard Hall this morning to drop off a couple of furry friends. How many old toys does a girl need? Anyway they're there for now and sporting new velvet ribbons...
Meet Lamb
 and Bunny.
Poor Bunny was ear and eyeless when I got her in a box of old toys. Finally I've got round to fixing her up with old Laura Ashley fabric ears backed in wool and some fresh eyes so she can see how lovely she looks. I wonder how I knew she was a rabbit?

The spring fabrics have been out in abundance this week.
I've been making some spring stock for my shelves. I know I said no more cushions but then I sold some more so really I'm just topping up.
I love these mischievous ducklings.

This is a different fabric I'd not seen before. I bought it from Donna at Trull a few weeks ago.
This cute pink one is backed in a vintage wool blanket.
The ever popular yellow farm animals fabric. I've lost track of how much I've made from this. I had metres of it all unused but now it's running low...
Find them on my etsy shelves or at Custard Hall.
 Tagged and ready to go...

Poor Noddy!

A week or two ago I promised you a peek at some more of my vintage toys. I'm beginning to regret that.
Well I made a Noddy cushion for a customer in Japan and thought "hey I've got a Noddy rag doll I'll get him out for the photo..."
Poor Noddy! In a box under the bed for ages and look what had happened to him. that'll teach me for forgetting about him.
Sunday morning was spent doing some unplanned cosmetic surgery and a serious clothes wash!
I was too nervous to wash the boy himself as I fear he may fall apart or lose his face.
So here we are. A grubby Noddy, gently stuffed with clean clothes.
I think he just needs a bell on his hat to finish him off.
Now where are those other toys?...

Giant Flea and Christmas Critters

This lovely toy elephant is just one of a big bagful of critters that came home with me from the Giant Flea Market on Sunday.
They were in a bit of a sorry state but after some stuffing, sewing and prettifying they are ready for new homes for Christmas.
Let me introduce you...

Which one would you choose?
I struggled to leave this lot alone. I collect, amongst too many other things, Kleen Kitchenware in green. But this was red so had to stay behind. I was saving my pennies for suitcases, toys and tins.

This was another tempting stall but too pricey to sell on.
Love these old playpens.
Yet more tins. You can never have enough tins...
...practical and pretty.

PS Giveaway in a day or two I promise!
